Import Desk FAQ

Ordering, documents and freight

For the full commercial table, see the wholesale terms page. For destination-specific permit rules, use the destination pages.

Which countries does Foliaria ship to?↓

Foliaria dispatches wholesale consignments to the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand and Saudi Arabia, and handles other international destinations by inquiry. Destination-specific permit, pre-notification and inspection requirements are set out on the destination pages and must be confirmed by the buyer before an order is placed.

Who is responsible for the import permit and destination import rules?↓

The buyer, as importer of record. The importer obtains any destination import permit the market requires, registers for any required pre-notification system, and verifies that every taxon in the consignment is admissible. Foliaria obtains the Indonesian phytosanitary certificate and prepares the consignment to the documented export standard, but an export certificate does not grant import authorisation in the destination country.

What is the minimum order?↓

The minimum export consignment is 20 plants. The count applies to the consignment as a whole, so varieties may be mixed to reach it. Orders of 20 to 29 plants are accepted without a volume discount.

Can I mix varieties in one consignment?↓

Yes. Varieties may be mixed within a single consignment, and the 20-plant minimum and the volume tiers are calculated on the combined plant count rather than on each line separately. Each line is still priced at its own catalog unit band before the consignment discount is applied.

Volume tier tableTrade categories

What volume discounts apply?↓

A 3% discount applies from 30 plants, 5% from 100 plants and 8% from 300 plants. The discount is applied to the goods subtotal, and the tier is determined by the total plant count in the consignment.

How do I pay for an order?↓

Payment is a 50% initial deposit against a confirmed proforma invoice, settled by bank transfer. There is no automated payment gateway and no card surcharge. The proforma invoice is issued after the commercial desk reviews the manifest.

When is freight quoted, and why is it not shown in the catalog?↓

Freight is quoted per consignment because it depends on box count, volumetric weight, destination and the carrier rate in force at the time. Catalog prices are FOB unit bands, not quotations, and the shipping rates page gives indicative estimates rather than a confirmed price. The quotation states the trade term: FOB Juanda (SUB), with freight arranged separately by the buyer, or a CIF estimate with freight included subject to carrier confirmation.

Which documents are included with a consignment?↓

Foliaria submits each consignment for Barantan quarantine inspection. When the consignment passes inspection and the taxon is eligible, the official Indonesian phytosanitary certificate is issued, with e-Phyto verification where issued, and accompanies the shipment. Electronic pre-flight document copies are sent 48 hours before aircraft dispatch from Surabaya (SUB) or Jakarta (CGK).

Which documents and costs are not included?↓

The destination import permit, destination pre-notification, customs brokerage, import duties and taxes are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in the goods price. A phytosanitary certificate is not an import permit, a customs invoice or a CITES permit, and it does not authorise entry of a restricted taxon.

How does bare-root preparation affect the order?↓

All soil and growing media are removed before export. Roots are washed, treated with a broad-spectrum fungicide and bactericide, dried, and wrapped in steam-sterilised Chilean sphagnum moss held at 55–60% moisture, then anchored in breathable poly-mesh. Consignments are packed in insulated boxes with heat packs where seasonal conditions require them. Plants therefore arrive bare-root and need rehydration and acclimation rather than immediate potting into field soil.

How long does transit take?↓

Indicative air express transit is 3 to 7 business days from dispatch, depending on destination, customs and plant inspection queues. It is a carrier estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date.

What happens if a plant arrives damaged?↓

Contact the export desk promptly with the order details and clear photographs of the affected plants and root systems. Arrival-condition cases are reviewed individually; the arrival condition page is the only statement of our position and it does not publish a fixed claim window.

How do I request a species that is not in the catalog?↓

Send the botanical name and the quantity you need to the export desk on WhatsApp. Requests for species outside the catalog are handled individually by the desk; the catalog lists 826 export-ready lines across seven trade categories.

What is confirmed at quotation?↓

The quotation sets out the species and quantities offered, the applicable volume tier, the trade term and the freight basis. Catalog prices are FOB unit bands and are not quotations; the phytosanitary documentation scope and the 50% deposit are confirmed on the proforma invoice issued after desk review.
