Bare-Root Shipping: Soil-Free Plant Standards

International biosecurity laws do not restrict live plants because of the plants themselves; they restrict the soil accompanying them. Soil is an uncontrollable vector for burrowing nematodes (*Radopholus similis*), fungal sclerotia, insect pupae, and foreign agricultural bacteria.

USDA 7 CFR 319.37 Soil-Free Mandate

The United States Department of Agriculture strictly mandates that all imported plants must be completely free of soil, potting mix, bark chunks, sand, or unapproved organic substrate. If a USDA inspector discovers even a small clump of native potting compost adhered to a root ball at an inspection station, the entire consignment can be subjected to immediate mandatory destruction or costly re-export.

The 3-Stage Hydrodynamic Cleansing Process

At our Blitar export preparation facility, every single plant undergoes a rigorous 3-stage washing regimen:

1. **Coarse Substrate Depotting:** Plants are carefully extracted from nursery pots and soaked in lukewarm reverse-osmosis water to loosen potting media without tearing fine root hairs.
2. **High-Precision Hydro-Wash:** Roots are cleaned with variable-pressure water jets, meticulously removing every granule of perlite, peat, and organic humus from the root crown and leaf sheaths.
3. **Magnified Optical Inspection:** Our quality assurance inspectors inspect root crotches under 10x illuminated LED magnification to verify zero soil residue before approving the specimen for chemical dipping.
